The singer is nodding to his country roots by appearing at the Cajun Country Jam this Memorial Day Weekend.

It’s been a few days since John Foster placed second on American Idol season 23, but it looks like he already has some post-TV plans to get to!
The country music singer made a name for himself for his incredible vocal talent on the ABC series over the last few months. While folks primarily watched John sing on national TV, the musician who came in second to Jamal Roberts is now revealing some exciting news.
Posting a major announcement on Instagram on May 20, he revealed he’ll be making an appearance at the Cajun Country Jam at Pards North Park in Denham Springs, Louisiana. What’s more, the three-day event is happening over Memorial Day Weekend — sooner than fans expected!
“Hey everybody, it’s John Foster here,” he shared in the minute-long clip. “American Idol was such an amazing ride and I think and to think that everything’s just beginning is such a crazy thought. I promise y’all some more show dates soon, and I’m here to gladly say I’m gonna have my first post-Idol public appearance this weekend in Livingston-Paris at the Cajun Country Jam.”

“I’m gonna hop onstage, I’m probably gonna sing a few here or there, but just please come this weekend,” he added. “You will see me there at some point. It’s just been such an amazing honor and I’m so very happy to be back on the stage singing y’all some traditional country music. I’ll see y’all there!”
When fans learned that John would be part of a music festival so soon after American Idol, they were so excited to see what he had in store.
“Congratulations!!! You were my top favorite since the beginning!” one person wrote in the comments. “Woohoo! Would love to be there. Can’t wait to see you in concert in the future. Love the old traditional country music and your passion to keep it alive,” another agreed. “I love your voice and I can’t wait to see you in concert! You bring country to country!” a different follower added.
Now, this is quite a way to kick off what’s clearly going to be an incredible music career. And John is definitely aware of what an opportunity like American Idol can lead to, as he shared in a heartfelt Instagram note the day after the season 23 finale.
“No words can describe how I truly feel, but I hope that these will try,” he wrote. “I can vividly remember that feeling of ‘I’ll never be good enough’ in my early days of Idol, and I can gladly say I proved myself wrong … My gratitude will NEVER be fully expressed, but I hope to show it by working hard to give you some new country music and show dates as soon as I can. God has a reason for me being runner-up … This is merely a first step into what He has in store for me, and I cannot wait to see what lies ahead. I love you!”
