Creator reveals the truth behind Jackie’s love triangle in My Life with the Walter Boys ending
‘She can’t hide it with Cole’
My Life with the Walter Boys season two dropped recently, and it is already one of the top shows on Netflix right now. It is basically a young adult cowboy love triangle story, full of ranch life, teenage heartbreak and plenty of drama.
The story follows Jackie, a city girl from New York, who moves in with the Walter family after losing her parents. In season two, she returns to the Walter house after running away to New York during the summer. And she finds herself once again caught between brothers Cole and Alex.
So, what happens in the ending?

The big finale moment comes when Jackie and Cole finally admit their feelings. Cole tells her first and Jackie, after loads of hesitation, says she loves him too. It is a proper slow-burn confession and feels like the payoff people have been waiting for. But just as they are about to kiss, Alex overhears the whole thing.
This is a huge twist because Jackie has also been secretly dating Alex this season and even told him that she loved him too. Now everything is out in the open and the triangle has well and truly exploded.
Before anyone can process it, Will races in on an ATV and ambulances arrive at the ranch. Something terrible has happened to George, the Walter dad. The screen cuts to black and that is the cliffhanger we are left with.
Now the creator has weighed in on the ending

In an interview with Tudum, creator Melanie Halsall revealed she always wanted the season to build to Jackie’s big confession, but also end with a family emergency. “I wanted a big finale, and I was always working towards that scene between Jackie, Cole, and Alex,” she said. “I also always had the idea in my head that the family would have this big crisis, and it would probably be around George.”
Halsall explained that Jackie’s feelings for both brothers are real, even if they are different. “The way we see it is she’s in love with Cole, but she still loves Alex,” she said. “It’s only when [Cole] drags it out of her in the final episode that she admits it to herself.”
For Halsall, the contrast between the brothers is the key. “She can’t hide with Cole,” she said. “Whereas Alex, lovely, intelligent, great guy that he is, doesn’t unleash the same things in her that Cole does.”
She also added that Jackie’s indecision comes from her grief as much as her relationships. “Of course she doesn’t know what she wants romantically, because her heart is completely broken,” Halsall explained.
And when it comes to Alex, Halsall admitted that on paper he is the one Jackie should choose. And for obvious reasons, she doesn’t want to be with Cole. “She doesn’t want to mess things up with the family. She doesn’t want to betray Alex. And she doesn’t want to make the same mistakes she made before. She wants to love him, she wants to love him the way she loves Cole, but ultimately she doesn’t.”
Halsall also said the final scene was designed to keep us hooked. She teased, “The audience are going to be desperate for the next line of that conversation.”
