American Idol season 23 first runner-up John Foster and second runner-up Breanna Nix took Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan’s seats at the judging table after announcing their upcoming Grand Ole Opry debuts.
In a hilarious video shared via Instagram, Breanna and John took Carrie and Luke’s seats at the American Idol judging table. The video is set to Snoop Dogg’s “Sensual Seduction,” and features John and Breanna on the set of American Idol, considering whether to sit in the judges’ chairs. The first scene shows John with the caption, “Should we go sit in the judges’ chairs?” followed by Breanna’s caption, “No we shouldn’t.” John’s then reads, “We could just go see how it feels,” as Breanna’s says, “Like us being the next country judges?”
Then, Breanna and John are both shown with the captions, “I mean … It’s right there …” and “Let’s just go see how it feels.” The captions then say, “Let’s just see …” and “Do we look like Carrie and Luke right now?” as Breanna and John sit in Carrie and Luke’s chairs at the judging table with big smiles on their faces.
What American Idol’s Breanna Nix & John Foster Sitting At The Judges’ Table Means For American Idol
Breanna & John Are Following in Carrie and Luke’s Footsteps

It was so funny to see Breanna and John sitting in Carrie and Luke’s seats because they’re following in their footsteps, and they’re on their way to becoming country music legends like them. They really are true reflections of them. Like Carrie, Breanna is a country singer whose music is often faith-based, while John has a classic country sound like Luke. Both Breanna and John have the potential to become country music superstars after the show, especially because they’re both about to make their Grand Ole Opry debuts, and this video is like catching a glimpse of the future.
Our Take On Breanna & John Sitting At The American Idol Judges’ Table
Breanna & John Should Return To American Idol As Mentors

Although Breanna and John were just joking when they sat at the American Idol judges’ table, they got me thinking that they could make great mentors for future finalists. It’s always exciting to see alums return to the show to help the contestants, and Breanna and John’s journeys could lead them back to the show to do the same. As they make their Grand Ole Opry debuts, they’re on their way to breaking into the country music industry.
Throughout American Idol season 23, Breanna and John, along with winner Jamal, impressed the judges–Carrie, Luke, and Lionel Richie–and voters with their sensational performances. I loved seeing Breanna and John as the future of American Idol, sitting in Carrie and Luke’s chairs. Although they were kidding about sitting in their seats, it’s highly possible that someday it could happen. I can’t wait to see what Breanna and John do next.
American Idol is available to stream on Hulu.
