American Idol alum Triston Harper and his wife Paris Reed have welcomed their first child together. The 17-year-old singer reached the Top 5 on Season 22 of the show. He and his wife announced their marriage and pregnancy last fall.
American Idol‘s Triston Harper Welcomes Baby with Wife
On June 23, Triston’s mother Hattie Mae Sullivan posted on Facebook that her granddaughter had been born. Triston and Paris welcomed a baby girl named Brenley Lichelle Harper, weighing six pounds and six ounces.
Sullivan joked that baby Brenley “ain’t here to play,” adding, “She’s already in boss mode!!!!! Feed me, Change me, Cut that bright light out.” She added that as her grandmother, she would “make it happen” for the newborn.
Triston was just 15 when he competed on American Idol last year. In November, after turning 16, he announced that he and his girlfriend Paris Reed had gotten married. Around the same time, his mom shared the news that the couple was expecting a baby together.
Triston Made It to the Top 5
When Triston auditioned for American Idol Season 22, he shared that he and his mother were homeless for a time when he was 12 years old, after escaping his abusive stepfather. He tried out with a performance of “Cover Me Up” by Jason Isbell.
All three of the show’s judges voted “yes” to sending Triston through to Hollywood Week. He ended up making it all the way to the Top 5, after performing songs such as “Sand in My Boots” by Morgan Wallen and an original song called “H.O.P.E.”
Triston was eliminated alongside Emmy Russell after performing “Almost There” from The Princess and the Frog and “Life Is a Highway” from Cars on Disney Night. After his time on the show, Triston released his song “H.O.P.E.” as a single.
