American Idol season 23 runner-up John Foster admitted that he hadn’t given much thought to joining the cast of Dancing With The Stars, but would he turn down an invitation?
In an interview with TV Insider, John admitted that he hadn’t given much thought to joining the cast of Dancing With The Stars, but he wouldn’t rule out an appearance on the show. He shared, “I never really thought about that. I’ll tell you this – it’s certainly not a no.”
John’s plans for his immediate future include promoting his single, “Tell That Angel I Love Her,” which he wrote for his late friend, Maggie Dunn. He stated, “I’m going to push that out as much as possible. I think it gives people a great idea of who I am as a writer. I wrote that song by myself. It gives people a good glimpse of who I am as an artist and as a writer.” John’s also looking forward to recording his first full album. He said, “I love being in the studio.”
John also can’t wait to head home and spend some time with his beloved dog. He shared, “I’ve been missing my dog and so I’m super excited to get back home.”

What John Foster Possibly Joining DWTS Would Mean For Career
John Would Get A Lot Of Publicity But Have To Devote A Lot Of Time

John wouldn’t be the first American Idol alum to compete in the DWTS ballroom. American Idol season 6 winner Jordin Sparks placed ninth in DWTS season 31, along with her professional dance partner, Brandon Armstrong, while season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina placed fourth during DWTS season 28, along with her professional dance partner, Gleb Savchenko. In addition, season 5 finalist Kellie Pickler won DWTS season 16, along with her professional dance partner, Derek Hough.
Our Take On John Foster Being Interested In Competing On DWTS
John Should Focus On His Music Career Instead
While it’s smart of John to keep his options open, he should focus on his country music career while his popularity is still soaring after American Idol. He has the potential to be one of the most successful American Idol contestants ever, so he should continue to record music and play his own concerts. At 18 years old, John has his whole life ahead of him to try new things like DWTS, so he should make music his priority right now. During American Idol season 23, John showcased some of his dance moves during performances such as “Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley, and he definitely has rhythm. He could thrive on DWTS because he has natural dance talent, the drive to win, and a strong fan base. However, right now, John should focus on taking the country music world by storm after American Idol.
