Less than two weeks after John Foster finished as runner-up on Season 23 of American Idol, he had even more to celebrate. Wednesday, May 28, was the country singer’s one-year anniversary with his girlfriend, Brooklyn Bourque.
In honor of the special occasion, Foster took to his Instagram Story to pay tribute to Bourque. He shared a new photo of them from Memorial Day Weekend and wrote a short but sweet message.
“It’s been an amazing year and you’ve been beside me every step of the way,” Foster gushed. “Happy 1 year anniversary. I love you so much.”
Bourque was in the audience for several of Foster’s live performances on Idol. She continued to show her support by attending Cajun Country Jam with him over MDW. She documented the experience on her own Instagram page, which included a video of Foster singing on stage.
Cajun Country Jam was Foster’s first post-Idol performance, and he doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. On June 4, he’ll be joined by several other contestants from his season, as well as some American Idol alum, for a performance in Nashville. Then, he’ll make his Grand Ole Opry debut on June 7.
“The first time I went to the Opry, I fought back tears because I was so overwhelmed with joy,” Foster shared. “As an amateur country music historian, there is no more significant place to my passion (country music) than the Grand Ole Opry. This has been my #1 dream ever since I started music, and now, because of your support, my dream will come true! I will NEVER be able to express my gratitude! Glory be to God!”
Meanwhile, the show’s 2025 winner, Jamal Roberts, is seeing his own success. His cover of Tom Odell’s “Heal,” which was released as his first official single, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel charts and No. 2 on the Digital Sales chart across all genres!
