Keith Urban was in the middle of performing at the Ryman Auditorium when he spotted something in the audience that made him stop the show, jump off the stage, and rush into the audience. The occasion? He wanted to give a fan a really big hug.
Urban was onstage at the Band as One Nashville Concert for the Cure: Trisha Yearwood & Friends benefit show at Nashville’s famed theater when he spotted an audience member holding up a sign that read, “I beat cancer to hug Keith Urban.”
The star clearly needed to chat with the fan and decided to do it in the middle of the show. WSM Radio shared a video of the special moment on Instagram, where Urban leaves the stage and makes his way to the fan to give her the hug she earned.
Urban took the time to chat with the fan and give her the requested embrace. While typically a crowd at a concert might have been annoyed that the performer stopped the show to have a chat with a fan, the audience couldn’t have been more supportive and receptive.
Of course, this was no ordinary concert, either. It was the inaugural Band as One Nashville Concert for the Cure, a benefit concert for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, a breast cancer research and support organization. Country music icon, Trisha Yearwood headlined the event alongside stars including Lauren Alaina, Kristin Chenoweth, Sheryl Crow, Amy Grant, Lainey Wilson, and, of course, Urban.
