Bondi terror attack hero recovering after tumour discovered during surgery
A police officer shot during the Bondi terror attack has undergone life-changing surgery after doctors made an unexpected discovery.
A hero police officer who was shot during the Bondi terror attack is recovering after surgeons discovered a benign tumour behind his eye while operating on his gunshot wounds.
Jack Hibbert was one of the first responding officers to the Bondi terror attack in December last year, where he was shot multiple times.
During surgery to treat his injuries, medical staff made the remarkable discovery of a benign tumour behind one of his eyes.
At the end of April, the 22-year-old underwent surgery to have the tumour removed and is now recovering in hospital.

His family released a statement saying he is doing well, but acknowledged he has been through numerous extreme challenges.
The young officer had only been in the police force for four months when the Bondi attack occurred.
Community members have rallied around Hibbert and his family, with an online fundraiser garnering more than $120,000 to aid the young cop.
Another fundraiser run by NSW Police Legacy, which supports injured officers and their families, raised more than $550,000 for him.
